Ross Johnson created a list of 13 websites that use Javascript to create great scrolling and sliding effects. All the listed websites are all wonderfully designed and most belong to creatives. There are number of interesting posts that relate to website design and development, well worth a bookmark.

One of the websites featured in the list (Sroon) is not a good example of a scrolling site. However, one of the designs featured on Sroon is - icametoplay.org.

Some of you may have noticed a few quirks in Blog24 layout and design. These are caused by plugins that are being used to improve the site but their output has not been styled yet.

Sorry for any vexation caused by irksome layout. Be assured that these little oddments will be fixed as soon as possible.

I suppose that there is a lesson or two to be learnt here:

Having appreciated an easy way to upload and display photographs using the new gallery feature in WordPress 2.5 I have only just discovered that it has broken my theme’s layout.

At first I thought it was the extra long titles given to each photo. After editing every title the layout is still screwed up! I’m sure it is just a snippet of CSS away from a fix and I will have to look into it.

There have been a number of steps taken to convert Nurudin Jauhari’s Indian Muslims (IM) Wordpress theme to the design that you see before you today.

Images

As this theme uses images in the header area I thought it wise to replace them with my own work. I chose simple images that were not too busy and distracting and cropped them to the correct size before uploading them to the server.

The next image I changed was the favicon.ico - as shown here: >

Although there were a number of minor images to change or edit (those used for subtle effects) the last main graphic that required changing was the background. I wanted to keep it simple but somewhat random. I took the aforementioned favicon and pasted it onto the plain background in fairly random places, obviously it was coloured accordingly and random single pixel dots were added just add a very slight suggestion of texture.
