New Apple iPods to be Announced Tomorrow
According to Electric Pig Apple are definitely releasing a new iPod at tomorrow’s Let’s Rock event.
“We’ve just been given the nod from a top UK peripheral manufacturer that Apple’s poised to unleash new iPods tomorrow, followed by a slew of new accessories.
“The manufacturer, contacting us with details of its new range, is scheduled to unveil cases and peripherals as soon as Thursday…”
Unfortunately Electric Pig have not published any details about the products that the unnamed manufacturer are due to release, nor any details about what would be seems to be some sort of new iPod. Perhaps there is some truth in the rumors rumours about a new Apple iPod Nano.
Whether the whole iPod range has received a new design remains to be seen (excluding the iPhone of course), but this is unlikely. Speculation suggests that the iPod Touch will be improved, perhaps with the addition of GPS. Larger hard-drives are likely across the range and perhaps some improved software higher state of eye candy.
iTunes 8 is also likely to be released and there are a few interesting claims about its new features. Most widely know is Digg founder Kevin Rose:
“Tunes 8 includes Genius, which makes playlists from songs in your library that go great together. Genius also includes Genius sidebar, which recommends music from the iTunes Store that you don’t already have.
“With iTunes 8, browse your artists and albums visually with the new Grid view; download your favorite TV shows in HD quality from the iTunes Store; sync your media with iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (2nd generation), and iPod touch (2nd generation); and enjoy a stunning new music visualizer.”
Genius sounds like a great idea but hard to believe! HD quality TV Shows is also feasible but probably only in the USA for now. As for the new visualiser, that seems almost definite should iTunes 8 is launched. Again, new iPods are promised by Rose.
Come 6:00pm BST tomorrow (Tuesday, September 9th) we will know what is the latest that Apple have to offer with regards to iTunes and the iPod range.
Finally, just remember that there has been a lot of rumors rumours that has slowly built up a lot of hype about Apple’s “Let’s Rock” event in California. Here’s a quote from Gizmodo (Australia) that sums up my personal feeling about the whole event.
Knowing that Apple usually teases a bit when something really exciting is coming up, I have the sinking feeling that this is going to be a very boring event.
