Another Place by Antony Gormley
Here’s a selection of photographs I took of Another Place by Antony Gormley. Another Place is the name given to the array of 100 iron cast statues that stand on Crosby beach in the northwest of England.

I (very) recently wondered why there was no WordPress 2.4. I soon found the answer, strangely enough by chance shortly after posting my query in the last post.
Anyway, here’s the reason;
As discussed in the developer mailing list, the next release of WordPress will be in March instead of January because of the holidays and the amount of changes that will take place in the codebase as well as the admin section. The decision was made to consider 2.4 a skipped December release and move straight on to 2.5. The reasons for the change in the schedule include some good things cooking in the oven and the developers do not want this to become a rushed release.

After much anticipation and a slight delay WordPress 2.5 is now available.
Not only that but the whole of wordpress.org has been redesigned and compliments the new WordPress release. Every page of Blog24′s WP 2.5 RC1 installation is telling me to upgrade and I will do so within the next 24 hours.
WordPress 2.5 Release Candidate 2 (RC2) has been released today.
As previously mentioned there is a new gallery feature built into WP 2.5 and Matt has created a screencast which includes an overview of this handy new feature. I’ll be testing the gallery feature out soon here on Blog24.
Matt’s screencast also includes an overview of the Dashboard and the newly designed Post page.
It is good to hear that this upgrade has not caused any reported problems with existing themes. The same cannot be said for plugins but many developers of the quality plugins have been updating their code to make it work with WordPress 2.5.
Initially having an incompatible theme was one of my concerns as this is such a new blog. However, I have not have to alter anything in my theme due to the transition from WP 2.3.3 to 2.5.

I have been using WordPress since version 1.5 and instantly found it easy to use. Since then each upgrade has been met with much anticipation. Finally 2.5 is here and with an abundance of new features promised it is time to download and install…
…six minutes fourteen seconds later…
Just finished upgrading from WordPress 2.3 to 2.5 RC1. As easy and painless as any other upgrade in the past. As soon as the upgrade has finished previous users of WordPress will notice a difference when logging in. Nothing spectacular just a hint of the what lies beyond the login page.
The Dashboard has been overhauled and the primary navigation has been reorganised as shown below (click on the image to enlarge):
